The Northernmost region of Italy, with its fragrant white wines and own clear style of red wines. Both Trentino and the Alto Adige produce notable amounts of the popular Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Trentino pioneered sparkling wine making by the classic method in the early century and has retained its leading position. They are predominately Chardonnay based with extensive amounts of Chardonnay in the vineyards.
Distinctive reds come from Alto Adige’s indigenous Lagrein and Trentino’s native Teroldego and Marzemino, which can be matched in class by Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot Nero.
