Slovenia's wine industry reflects the successive waves of Romans, Slavic and Austro-Hungarian people that settled in this small country that borders Italy to the west, Austria to the north and Croatia to the south. throughout its long history of winemaking, Slovenia has produced wines that were regarded highly enough to supply white wines to the Habsburg Court. After World War 11, viticulture suffered as Slovenia was folded into Yugoslavia by Tito, whose central planners prized quantity over quality.
Since its independence in 1991 and membership of the EU in 2004, the situation has been reversed, and the quality is once again triumphing over quantity. Local varieties like Malvazija and Rebula (Ribollain Italy) are helping Slovenia once again to carve out a name for itself in the world of wine.

Gasper Chardonnay Rebula, Goriska Brda, Slovenia is a modern, fresh style. This is a blend of 55% Chardonnay, 45% Rebula. 95% of the blend is fermented in stainless steel tanks with 5% fermented in large Slavonian oak casks to lend roundness to this fresh and fruity wine which shows hints of peach and citrus.

Gasper Pinot Grigio, Goriska Brda, Slovenia is a modern fresh style. It is fermented in stainless steel and is aromatic with pear and white flowers on the nose with refreshing grapefruit on the palate. The Goriska Brda region, cast midway between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea is perfect for the production of Pinot Grigio. The hillside vineyards planted on the marl soil called \"opoka\" create a deep, mineral rich and delicious type of Pinot Grigio.
