Austrian wine making is an exciting blend of old and new skills and also modern techniques. Like Switzerland, wine production is limited because of the size of the country and so much of the land is made up of high mountains which is unsuitable for growing grapes. The wine culture of Austria produces World class dry white wines from grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Gruner Veltliner and of course the famous Riesling. Allram Gruner Villa Strass Zweigelt is a soft, fruity red wine which is very approachable and easy drinking. A violet-red colour in the glass this has aromas of fresh red fruit and cherry. The palate continues the flavours on the nose with soft tannins and bright cherry. A great wine which can be slightly chilled to bring out extra flavours.
