Madeira Wine is again a famous and historic part of the vast wine growing country of Portugal. Although Madeira Wine is a Fortified Wine, its taste and history is quite different from Port Wine. The Island of Madeira has a different geography, climate and uses different grape varities to mainland Portugal and the wine making process is completely different again.
The four main grape varieties that qualify for the official Madeira label are Malmsey the sweetest of all. Bual is a little less sweet, Verdelho a white grape variety that produces easy drinking wines and the grape of the least quantity grown is the Sercial which produces wines similar to dry sherry with perhaps more body.

Madeira Wine Henriques and Henriques Finest Medium Rich 5 Years Old, is a spicy fortified wine, sometimes described as liquid Christmas pudding. It is delicious on its own, but is also an ideal accompliment for dessert, ice cream, cheese or fruit salad.
Madeira Wine Henriques and Henriques Finest Dry 5 Years Old, is lovely, seductive soft, quite creamy notes of walnut and bruised pear fruit, with a straw-like note. The palate has a fine Fino sherry-like dryness and tiny saltiness as well as those nutty and dried apricot flavours. There\'s a complex, dry nut and burnt orange tang, with plenty of acidity that is well integrated and balanced. Very tangy and mouth-watering despite a certain richness. Dry and crisp with an elegant nuttiness from oak cask ageing. An ideal aperitif, best served chilled with fresh roasted nuts such as almonds.
