The region of Ribera del Duero produces some of the best wine in Spain outside the Rioja and Cataluna. It is one of the fastest growing and most fashionable wine growing areas in the country. Prices for the wines are correspondingly high.
The larger and central art of the region lies within the province of Burgos. The vines grow on chalky, pine fringed slopes bordering the Duero and the predominate grape is the Tinto Fino or Tinto Aragones, a variant of the Riojan Tempranillo, whose musts are particulary suitable for maturation in oak.
This area is famous for the legendary Vega Sicilia but many excellent bodegas such as Alejandro Fernandez and Bodegas Hermanos have now come to the fore.

Straight foward and intense nose with predominant aromas of red and black fruit combined with spicy and slightly toasty notes. Very fruity, fresh and well-structured in the mouth. Marques de Burgos Roble DO Ribera del Duero has an intense cherry colour with purple hues. Flavours of wild berries and hints of violets provide lovely perfume on the nose.
