Buy Spanish Wines - Galicia and Rias Baixas Online
This small DO is situated in the region of Folicia in the north west of Spain, close to the border with Portugal. Crisp whites are the hallmark of the region.
Albarino is a native of Galicia, the wines have lovely, peachy fruit on the palate, which is rich without being sweet, most are drunk within 18 months of the vintage. Given the opportunity, Albarino can also produce full bodied, steely, dry wines that age with great grace and are perfectly matched with seafood.
The other two important grapes are Treixadura and Loureira Blancaas well as the once undervalued and perhaps neglected red Mencia. The astringency of the red wines is a good counter to the richness and full flavour of the more substantial dishes.
