Fortified Wines such as Port Wine are a speciality of Alexander Hadleigh Wine Merchants based in Southampton, Hampshire in the UK. Our selection of Fortified Wines is very extensive and contains a range of styles and diverse tastes to suit the vast majority of keen followers and connoisseurs of fine Port Wine.
In Portugal , a Port House is often judged on its Tawny Port Wines, an area which Sandeman and Offley excel with a range of exceptional Port Wines. Its worth noteing, that in Portugal there is a strong argument that all Tawny Port Wine should be served chilled between 12 and 16c. We in the UK tend to judge our Port Wine on the quality of Late Bottled Vintage and also the style and finesse of a pure Vintage Port Wine when it is declared.
Alexander Hadleigh Wine Merchants do promote and can confidently recommend Port Wines of various expressions of elegance from the many Douro and Porto Port Wine Lodges, such as Warres, Fonseca, Croft, Taylors, Grahams, Dows and Cockburns. These top Port Wine Lodges have many of their vineyards located in the renown and superior growing regions around Pinhao, including the beautiful valleys of Tedo, Tavora and Torto. These regions which are planted mainly with the vines of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz are a guarantee that the afore mentioned Houses produce and supply only top quality Port Wines now and also for many past centuries.
