Yes, Portugal has been best known for its great port wines and of course the big selling easy drinking brand of the 20th century Mateus Rose. Unlike its close neighbour Spain, Portugal's red wines tend to be bold, strong with powerful tanins and the message---love me or hate me!
A contradiction to to the previous statement would be the red wines from Dao and Bairrada where a number of growers at last are producing sweet scented juicier and less robust wines when compared to the past. If we move on to white wines, then Portugal's biggest seller and most famous is the wine from the Province Minho, Vinho Verde.
