Organic wine is wine made from grapes grown in accordance with principles of organic farming, which typically excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.

What makes a wine vegetarian or vegan? It's all to do with the fining process. Fining is done to clarify the wine - to make it clear and bright! Animal proteins such as milk, egg whites and gelatin are commonly used as fining agents. But vegetarian wines use veggie-friendly materials like clay or charcoal, as well as alternative processes to fine the wine without the need for animal products. Often the fining agent is animal gelatine or a fish based product, making the finished wine unsuitable for vegetarians. When a vegetarian fining agent (usually egg white or a milk based product) is used, the wine is suitable for vegetarians.

When the winemaker waits for the sediment to naturally clarify, the wine is vegan. Winemakers also use a fining agent called Bentonite (an inert clay) which is also suitable for vegans.
