Islay is the most famous of Scotland's whisky producing islands. The distilleries on this small Westerly isle have attracted worldwide attention with only one or two expectations, these distilleries produce some of the most powerful phenolic and easily identifiable single malts. With these whiskies it is either love or hate at first taste. The Macleod's Islay single malt is no exception to the rule. It is a robust, sea-weedy and intensely peaty whisky. The flavour is immense with notes of sherry, peat, smoke and sea salt, all fighting for recognition. Not one for the faint hearted.
