German wine is mainly produced in West Germany and mainly along the River Rhine and its tributaries. Germany has thirteen quality appellations and is the eighth largest wine producing country in the World, with over seventy percent being white wine. Much of the white produced is sweet and of fine quality and is exported primarily to the UK, Holland and the USA, most the dry wine produced is drunk by the Germans themselves.

RHEINHESSEN………..is the largest wine producing region in Germany, producing both red and white wines. Although famed for its sweet wines, Rheinhessen also has a fine reputation for its dry full bodied white wines. The wine region lies within the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
FRANKEN or FRANCONIA……….is the only wine region situated in Bavaria and is famous for growing Silvaner grapes on its chalky soil which in turn produces a unique bone dry white wine which is bottled in a flat flask style of bottle.
