Arguments will go on for ever debating who produces the finest wines, Europe or the West Coast of America. In our opinion they both produce great wines at the various price levels, but the styles can be much different. Compare the taste of an Oregon Pinot Noir and a Burgundy red, if you did not know in advance then you would swear they were different grape varities and the same goes for merlot, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay, but perhaps not so pronounced as the pinot noir.
