French Loire Wines
The Loire Valley is well over a thousand kilometers long stretching from Nantes on the coast to Pouilly-sur-Loire in the east. A big long region and unlike many other large wine regions of the world, nearly all of the better known Loire wines are white, there are some exceptions of course.
Fish and seafood come to mind quickly when thinking of the famous Loire whites such as Muscadet, Pouilly Fume and Sancerre, but then, we must not forget the well known rose wines from places like Anjou or the better reds from Chinon and Bourgueil and the great sparkling wines from Saumur and Vouvray.
