Sadly the popularity of German Wines around the world have been in decline for many many years for many many reasons that go back many many years.
Today German Wines can be catagorised into three distinct groups---First,cheap standard white wines with little information on the bottle label and mainly produced from the grape Muller-Thurgau. Second, Franken Wines which are produced from the sylvaner grape are dry, crisp and in a number of cases can be as good as a Chablis Grand Cru. Third, but not least the great sweet wines with quality designations as Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein.Most of Germany's famous wine regions like the Mosel, Nahe and Rheingau produce these spectacular and everlasting dessert wines of great quality which have always been appreciated by wine lovers worldwide
