Bordeaux is the home of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, blends of great distinction from estates of even greater distinction On saying that, some of World's greatest dry and sweet wines are produced in Graves and Sauternes respectively The three major regions of Bordeaux producing the great red wines of history are the Medoc, Pomerol and St. Emilion It should be noted that Graves also produces great red wines as well like Chateau Haut-Brion and Chateau Pape Clement The four sub regions of the Medoc probably hold the the largest collection of great wine producers for such a small area in the World These famous regions being St-Estephe, St-Julien, Pauillac and Margaux all producing wines of exquisite beauty
